ASTA Approved Product Wins Innovation Award

The ASTA Approved, Volex 'V-lock' range of connectors won an award for innovation at Septembers Professional Light and Sound Association Exhibition held in London's Earls Court. The Awards are aimed at recognising the essential quality of Innovation in sound, lighting, AV and engineering for performance purposes and only 8 were awarded at this years show.

A spokesman for Volex said, "The idea of a locking connector was conceived because many of our Japanese OEMs require connectors to have a high withdrawal force. In order to meet these needs as well as the requirement of IEC60320, a locking device was incorporated in a connector. The locking device has been tested and verified to withstand at least 25kg of force and can take at least 3000 cycles of engagement/disengagement. We consulted ASTABEAB during the design phase to ensure regulatory compliance and the connector has now been approved for use across the world."

The V-Lock range of connectors is based on the requirements of the IEC 63320-1 Standard. It is designed to eliminate the problem of accidental power disconnection during the challenges of 'on the road' trucking or live performances. It has a locking feature with release button to secure the connector with its mating inlet and is available in various IEC standard configurations.
